Sky Sports pundit in full support of Everton boardroom role for club hero Harvard man Tim Cahill

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Tim Cahill returning to Everton in a boardroom role can’t be “anything other than a positive” according to former club captain Kevin Campbell.

The Australian ex-Toffees player was involved in the appointment of manager Frank Lampard in January and told the Daily Mail on 28 October that a role was “a work in progress”, after the 42-year-old studied a course on the Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports and at Harvard Business School in 2021.

Sky Sports pundit Campbell is in full support of the club maintaining as many connections with key figures as possible and believes the move would be a strong one.

Everton

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News: “I think having as many connections to the playing staff, to the history of the club, and someone who bleeds blue, it all adds good things to the football club.

“I don’t see that as being anything other than a positive if he were to come on board.

“So I think it will be a good move for Everton to do that.

“But again, it all depends on the internals at the club.”

Everton

The hierarchy at Everton hasn’t been the most popular among fans in the past couple of years, but the selection of Lampard is one choice they appear to have got right.

Cahill was very popular as a player and if his influence helped get the Toffees boss in place then that is a good starting point should he complete a return full time.

With things looking up on the pitch, a popular former player apparently headed for the board room, and a new stadium on the horizon there a positive signs for the future at the club despite some tough times recently.
