Frank Lampard delivers Dominic Calvert-Lewin verdict that will be key to Everton transfer dealings
Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s form between now and the January transfer window will play a key part in whether the club makes a move for a new striker.
Frank Lampard has been vocal in the past about the club’s need for forward reinforcements but a solid run for Calvert-Lewin could keep the Blues out of the market.
The boss has admitted that Calvert-Lewin is “becoming more like himself” and his growth in confidence is a great thing for the team moving forward.
“He’s trained through the week, and every game is more in the tank for him – more confidence in his own fitness,” said Lampard as quoted by injury expert Ben Dinnery.
“We can’t expect goals in every game, but you see he’s becoming more like himself and that’s a great thing for us.”

Reliable?
There’s absolutely no doubting Calvert-Lewin’s ability in front of goal, if he can string together a good run of games he is one of the first names on the Toffees teamsheet.
The question is whether he can keep himself fit, the fact Lampard has claimed the striker is looking more like himself bodes well for the season ahead.
It may suggest that Everton will keep their noses out of the transfer market for a new forward in January too.
There’s plenty of time between now and the window reopening for Calvert-Lewin to stake his claim as Everton’s go-to striking option.
And if he starts banging them in on the regular, there may be no need for the club to dip into the transfer market.
This is a big if, but Calvert-Lewin has proved the naysayers wrong on too many occasions to doubt him again with developments to do with his fitness changing every day it seems.
Calvert-Lewin is a success story that Evertonians want to see and his return to form would definitely cast doubts over Everton’s search for a new forward.
