Everton player ratings v Leicester City: Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Idrissa Gueye disappoint
Everton saw Leicester City overtake them in the Premier League table after they lost 2-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.
The Foxes controlled the game from start to end and ran out deserving wins at full-time with James Maddison putting in another sensational performance.
Frank Lampard certainly will not be impressed with what he saw from most of his Toffees players and it could be few more intense training sessions in the coming days.

Our player ratings from the game:
Jordan Pickford – 6
Conceded two goals but made six saves and the scoreline would’ve been worse had he not been there between the sticks. While Tarkowski did a decent job, most players ahead of him clearly looked off the pace and it wasn’t his fault entirely.
Seamus Coleman – 5
Hard to fault him too much given his age and lack of match sharpness for Nathan Patterson. There are clear deficiencies in his game and the Foxes took full advantage of it on the evening. However, he was stellar with his passes and did put in a decent shift defensively
Conor Coady – 4
Not his best of games but that’s probably because he’s set the bar so high since his move to Goodison Park over the summer. Did find it hard on occasion to deal with Patson Daka and the other runners around him.
James Tarkowski – 7
Solid game from the Englishman who put in a good performance defensively. Nullified all the threats coming in from the left. He made crucial blocks and interceptions and surely was a nightmare to play against.

Vitaliy Mykolenko – 6
Found decent accuracy with his crosses as he proved to be a constant attacking threat down the left side for Everton. Defensively also he made a number of important clearances and on another day, would’ve had more to do had his side been in control of proceedings.
Alex Iwobi – 6
Created a few chances and constantly looked to enter the opposition penalty area to wreak havoc but to no avail. He did have a few cracks at goal too, but it never seemed likely. His long balls were accurate and he also made three key passes in the game. He should’ve had a goal or an assist to his name.
Idrissa Gueye – 3
Played 45 minutes and it’s understandable why Lampard took him off at the break. He did not manage to assert control of the midfield and his passes also were awry on occasion. It’s hard to expect consistent performances from him week in and week out at that age.
Amadou Onana – 4
Was good in the air but struggled to win most of his ground duels. Looked lively and energetic at times, but then was casual on occasion. Like most of the Everton players, the midfielder had a game to forget.
Demarai Gray – 5
Tried to make things happen, but unfortunately, players around him weren’t singing from the same hymn sheet. He struggled to find Calvert-Lewin more often than not and the front three played without any cohesion among them.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 3
Another game, another injury for Calvert-Lewin. Wasn’t his best performance for the Toffees and he barely could get involved in it. He missed one big chance with an xG of almost 0.5 early on in the second half. He also completed just eight passes all game as he remained isolated up front.
Dwight McNeil – 4
Completed just one of his six attempted crosses, but was decent in his distribution when he played short passes. He also lost possession on 12 occasions and that’s certainly not going to impress Lampard.
Subs
Nathan Patterson – 5
James Garner – 4
Abdoulaye Doucoure – 3
Anthony Gordon – 4
Neal Maupay – 4
