Manchester United could enter transfer race to sign Everton-linked striker Jonathan David

Manchester United could reportedly look at entering the race to sign Everton and Tottenham Hotspur-linked striker Jonathan David in January.

According to Give Me Sport on 6 November, the Red Devils, who are on the hunt for a striker may potentially eye David if he has a good World Cup in Qatar later this month.

Currently understood to be valued at around £40million, he could cost more if he performs well for the Canada national team.

Move on

Everton cannot afford to get into a bidding war with two of the richest teams in England and they must just move on if the two are in the race.

At that price, the 22-year-old already seems out of their budget and even if he was, a move to Goodison Park might not appeal to him as much.

At Spurs and United, he will be offered European football and the chance to make more money and compete for silverware should the clubs continue building in that direction.

However, the Toffees still seem a million miles away from being in contention to lift silverware and are currently ensuring that they do not get into relegation battles every season.

An attacker is needed in January certainly, but ideally, one that can play on the wings and not just centrally, would be something Lampard would want.

It is understood that the Toffees’ interest is not as concrete as it is, and we do not see it materialising into something serious with the price remaining as it is.
