Everton board to blame as Frank Lampard fights relegation again – BT Sports pundit
Everton suffered a 2-0 defeat against Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday, and Michael Ball feels the club is underperforming under Frank Lampard.
While writing his column for the Liverpool Echo, the current situation is simply not good enough as the Toffees need to start picking points, and there’s no excuse at the moment.
Lampard probably needs more support in the January transfer window, but his credentials will be questioned unless he picks up more wins.

“We’ve had our excuses but there was a full-strength team against Leicester City but still couldn’t get a result,” he wrote for the Liverpool Echo.
“The first five games when we played without a striker is on the board and not Frank’s head but those excuses have gone now and we need to start picking up points.
“Frank has got his football philosophy but we just want to get points on the board, even if they’re scruffy points. We don’t want to have to go through a repeat of last season again but we won 11 games in 2021/22 so we’ve still got to win another eight games this term to match even that as that’s what it’s going to take to stay in this league”
Massive improvement needed
Prima facie, it gives the impression that the squad has massively improved from where they were last season.
The Toffees narrowly escaped relegation last season. Everton now have a strong squad, and they come up with brilliant football occasionally.
However, that is only one half of the story. The Toffees have managed just one win in their last six games in the Premier League.
They are 16th in the league with only two points above the drop zone. Basically, it’s the same old feeling once again.

The attitude needs to change. Frank Lampard has got a poor record away from home, and the Toffees can’t seem to find a way to pick up three points away from Goodison Park.
They are relying heavily on their home form. The 2-0 defeat against Leicester City was an eye-opener. Lampard had a full-strength squad and yet they were beaten at home.
Everton face Bournemouth in their next Premier League game, and they should pick up a win to boost their confidence ahead of the World Cup break.
