Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on three-man shortlist at Spurs to replace Hugo Lloris

Everton and Leeds United goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Illan Meslier are reportedly being eyed by Tottenham Hotspur.

According to TEAMtalk journalist Graeme Bailey, Hugo Lloris is unlikely to be the number one at Spurs next season which has made them accelerate their plans to sign a replacement.

Apart from the aforementioned duo, Brighton keeper Robert Sanchez is also on their shortlist as they could make a move this summer.

Everton

Bailey said, “Hugo Lloris has a deal until 2024, but it is highly unlikely he will be Tottenham number one after this season. He has been up and down and it is understood Tottenham are looking for his long-term replacement. And we can reveal that a number of options are in the Premier League.

“They have been linked to the likes of Jordan Pickford, Robert Sanchez and Illan Meslier, and these are the options for them. They really like Sanchez at Brighton – but it is likely that won’t be until the end of the season.”

Hope he stays

If Everton do not show progress season after season, their star players would want to leave for greener pastures elsewhere.

Richarlison made the jump to play in the Champions League under one of the game’s most successful managers in Antonio Conte.

Should Spurs come calling with a good offer and a decent salary for the England number one, the Toffees are unlikely to come his way.

Everton would surely want Pickford to stay, but the club is run as a business and eventually, every player has his price, regardless of his importance to the team.

The 27-year-old is an influential member of the dressing room and one of the side’s most consistent performers over the years.

Any sale would see Everton making good money but they will then have to look for a good enough replacement and there aren’t too many in the market.
