Everton v Bournemouth: Journalist shares injury updates on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly likely to miss the Everton v Bournemouth Premier League clash over the weekend at the Vitality Stadium.
According to Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas, the club are waiting on more news from specialists but early signs suggest that he will not be fit in time.
However, the likes of Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye should be fit in time to be in contention for the game.
Via Twitter, Thomas wrote, “Calvert-Lewin: Club unsure of severity, waiting on more news from specialist but unlikely to be available for Bournemouth this weekend.
“Onana: Should be fit to train Weds or Thurs. Gueye: Could be available for Saturday.”
Not again
Calvert-Lewin appears set to spend some more time on the sidelines, although it won’t affect the Toffees too much as football will be taking a break.
However, Everton cannot rely on someone who’s fit only sporadically and there needs to be a discussion that should be had over his long-term future.
When fit, the England international is better than most strikers in the Premier League, but it takes him a while to get his sharpness back.
It now seemed like he was getting to that level and another setback will further dearth his progress and slow his return to full match fitness.
Seeing Gueye and Onana in contention is a good thing as the Toffees desperately need the two in midfield along with Alex Iwobi.
However, Gueye no longer has the legs he did so we will not be surprised if James Garner or Abdoulaye Doucoure play ahead of the 33-year-old.
