Everton defender Conor Coady shares reaction after England World Cup selection
Everton defender Conor Coady has been picked for the England World Cup squad, and he has shared his delight on Instagram.
Gareth Southgate has named his squad for the World Cup to be held in Qatar, where two Everton players – Coady and Jordan Pickford – have made the 26-man squad.
Coady has said that it’s an “absolute honour” for him to be representing the country at the World Cup, and he describes it as one of the “proudest moments” of his whole life.

Coady wrote on Instagram: “One of the proudest moments of my whole life and an absolute honour, we will give everything we’ve got for our country.”
Phil Neville has responded with a blue heart emoji, while former Wolves player Barry Douglas has said that “amazing bro, congrats”.
Fantastic
Coady joined the Toffees in the summer transfer window on loan from Wolves, and he has been sensational for the club.
The 29-year-old has made a huge impact at the Merseyside club, forging a strong partnership with James Tarkowski at the back.
Pickford has been the first-choice goalkeeper for England for a long-time, and his selection was never in doubt. There were even suggestions that whether Tarkowski could be included, but that didn’t materialise.

Coady has made 13 starts in the Premier League and has a goal and an assist to his name.
Frank Lampard’s side may have struggled in recent games, but very few can blame Coady (or the defence in general) for that.
Coady is a fantastic reader of the game and he is usually the last man to make clearances. That’s why you’d see Tarkowski making a lot of tackles and interceptions but Coady making the most clearances – 4.5 per game, as per Whoscored.
All eyes are now on Qatar.
