Shocking Everton return on cards for Dele Alli as he prepares to leave Besiktas
Dele Alli could be set for an Everton return after new developments emerged on Friday 11 November claiming he is unhappy with the departure of former Besiktas head coach Valerien Ismael, according to Takvim.
The loan move to Turkey was meant to be a redemption story for Alli who has suffered a catastrophic crash in form in recent seasons.
The report claims that Alli is not pleased about the departure of Ismael and is preparing to leave Turkey because of it, which has been described as “shocking”.
Besiktas do have the option to buy Alli at the end of the 2023 season but it seems both parties will be choosing against extending his stay in the Süper Lig.
Ismael was replaced by veteran coach Senol Gunes as Besiktas’ head coach and it seems Alli has been irritated by the decision.
If Alli thinks he can wander back to Goodison Park and get some playing time he’s sorely mistaken.
He’s the exact type of talent the club need to be avoiding right now and a prime example of the team’s poor transfer dealings in recent years.
Everton got this one really wrong and whilst it might have been worth taking a punt on the midfielder, he’s far from the world-beater he used to be.
It’s a shame things have panned out this way for the 26-year-old and he’s still young enough to turn his career around, but this can’t be under Frank Lampard at the Toffees.
Even if Alli does return, which looks likely, it’s hard to see where he would fit into Everton’s current midfield, it’s pretty much solid right now.
Alex Iwobi, Idrissa Gueye and Amadou Onana are all leaps and bounds ahead of the Englishman, there’s no chance he could oust any of them.
