Frank Lampard to seek January transfers at Everton as Goodison blow emerges in last 24 hours

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will see a specialist in the next 24 hours after dislocating his shoulder, and Frank Lampard is seeking reinforcement in January, according to a report from The Times.

The Toffees striker picked up a hamstring injury in Saturday’s defeat against Leicester City, but he could be out for a while now with shoulder problems.

Calvert-Lewin missed a chunk of action last season with a knee injury as well, and the latest shoulder injury has come as a huge blow for the club.

Make sense

Calvert-Lewin must feel really low at the moment. He recently returned to full fitness and scored against Crystal Palace as well.

There were even talks that he could be picked up by Gareth Southgate for the World Cup in Qatar, but the latest injury has put an end to that slim hope.

It is unclear at the moment for how long Calvert-Lewin will be out of action, but shoulder injuries take time to heal.

The fact that Lampard is already thinking of signing a new striker in January suggests that he doesn’t expect the England striker to return quickly.

During the summer, the Toffees signed Neal Maupay from Brighton, but he has failed to light up Goodison Park, after early promise.

In the absence of Calvert-Lewin, he will have to play a big role. Luckily for the club, the World Cup break couldn’t have come at a better time.

The beak will enable Lampard to chalk out his transfer plans, and also work out with players closely who aren’t participating in the World Cup.
