Everton given hope to secure signing of Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae

Everton have been given hope to sign Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae in the summer transfer window.

The Toffees were heavily linked with a move for the South Korean defender and even submitted a bid when he was at Fenerbahce.

The move didn’t happen as the defender ended up joining Napoli in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

Napoli sporting director has confirmed, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano that there is a release clause in the contract of the defender. However, it varies depending on the club.

Any potential buyer will have to meet his asking price within 15 of July next summer.

The news will come as a big boost for the Toffees who should make an attempt to bring him to Goodison Park during the summer.

It will require a big transfer fee to sign him but the club shouldn’t hesitate. Frank Lampard already bolstered the defence by adding Conor Coady and James Tarkowski this summer, both have been outstanding.

Lampard also has the likes of Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey as other options. However, Michael Keane could leave the club next summer, while Yerry Mina is also heading the exit.

This could lead to a new opening in defence, and Lampard can afford to bring a new face to the side. Min-Jae would be a cracking signing at the club.

While sorting out the defence is not Lampard’s main priority at the moment, the situation could easily change in the summer window.

It seems unlikely that Everton would spend a big money on the defender in January, but a potential bid in the summer if the offer is still valid, cannot be ruled out.
