Frank Lampard still in sack firing line as he arrives in Australia with Everton

Frank Lampard is still firmly in the sack firing line as he and his Everton team arrived in Australia for some FIFA World Cup break fixtures.

It’s been a torrid time for the Blues who haven’t been singing them much recently and Lampard’s job remains very much in doubt.

Mail Sport admitted that a “miserable sequence of events” has left Lampard firmly in the firing line and early season encouragement has all but disappeared.

Everton

“Whatever encouragement was gained through seven unbeaten matches in September has disappeared after a miserable sequence of defeats,” as quoted by Mail Sport.

“Frank Lampard is firmly in the firing line, but Everton’s fortunes have been compromised by not having a striker that can score goals. That issue must be addressed in January.”

Everton

True.

Lampard’s job has to be in question at the moment, Everton simply hasn’t been good enough and his rebuild is looking close to collapsing altogether.

Nevertheless, the report makes a valid point, Lampard and the Blues need attacking reinforcements and this is evidently the missing link in their squad.

The spine of the team has been moulded by Lampard himself, with Conor Coady, James Tarkowski and Amadou Onana joining Jordan Pickford at the heart of everything the Toffees do well.

This highlights the former Chelsea man’s prowess in the transfer market, he must be given a chance again in January to sign the striker he wants.

Everton came agonisingly close to signing Mohammed Kudus this summer and this was a glimpse of the kind of talent Lampard was gearing up to bring to Goodison.

Now isn’t the time to cry and moan about how bad things are, it was never going to be easy but the January transfer window has come at the perfect time for Everton to cash in on a star-striking talent.
