Raheem Sterling left in stitches as Everton star Conor Coady shares Frank Lampard view
Conor Coady settled the best-ever English midfielder debate with a hilarious line about Everton boss Frank Lampard that had Raheem Sterling in stitches.
Coady joined the Toffees on a one-year loan deal in the summer and his superb performances in the Everton defence earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for the World Cup.
Ahead of England’s first group stage match on Monday, Coady joined Kyle Walker and Sterling on SPORTbible to debate England’s best-ever midfielder, and his response left the room erupting in laughter.
After Walker and Sterling both sat on the fence in their responses, Walker then asked Coady how the Everton centre-back would have answered the question.
“Frank Lampard,” Coady said without hesitation, prompting laughter from Walker and Sterling.
“Alright gaffer?” he joked, before directing a thumbs up at the camera.
Loyalty at its finest
Coady was never going to answer anything other than Lampard, was he?

The Liverpool-born defender appears to have a good relationship with the Everton boss after he signed him in the summer. Coady has since been a regular starter for the Toffees and even worn the captain’s armband on occasion.
Lampard showed faith in him after he fell out of favour at Wolves and Coady was simply returning the favour.
Coady’s personality is certainly one of his strong points, and he seamlessly fitted into the Everton dressing room without any settling down period.
He’s extremely likeable and has already adopted a leadership role at Goodison Park as a result. He’s proven to be a huge asset to Everton this season and the club will be eager to secure him permanently as soon as possible.
He’s clearly a fan of Lampard, so it shouldn’t be an issue…
