Inter Milan want to sign Everton defender Yerry Mina as last chance saloon arrives

Everton defender Yerry Mina is being eyed for a move by Inter Milan with the defender looking to reignite his career, according to sempreinter.com.

Mina has dropped down the ranks in Frank Lampard’s side since the arrival of new summer recruits Conor Coady and James Tarkowski mirroring his injury woes.

The report claims that a move to Serie A to join Inter Milan could be Mina’s “last chance” at playing football at the highest level.

“Mina, on the other hand, is with Everton. At 28 years old but with time in the national team, he is looking for the last chance to stay at a high level and Serie A could be an option for him,” as quoted by sempreinter.com.

Lampard is building a team for the future and an ageing Mina will likely not be part of it, especially when you consider the former Chelsea bosses’ eagerness to promote youth.

Replacement.

A reliable and efficient replacement would be needed for Mina should he leave Goodison Park, Lampard will need a backup to Coady and Tarkowski.

One who can easily come in and sure things up for Everton when needed and a centre-back who is young enough to learn from Lampard’s trusted new centre-back duo.

Ben Godfrey is always an option to have, but he’s only just made his comeback to fitness and it yet to feature for the first-team squad this season.

Exploring options for more top centre-backs is always useful however, and the Blues shouldn’t shy away from bringing someone in to challenge Coady and Tarkowski for a starting role.

Depth is something this Everton team currently lacks and it was brutally on display in the team’s woeful self-destructive performance in the Carabao Cup against Bournemouth on 8 November 2022.

Mina leaving seems likely, he’s done a fairly decent shift for the Blues in recent seasons but it’s time to upgrade on the Columbian.
