Chelsea face competition from Tottenham for Everton midfielder Anthony Gordon

Chelsea will face stiff competition from Tottenham if they are to reignite their interest in Everton midfielder Anthony Gordon, according to Football London.

Gordon was the subject of interest from both the London clubs over the summer but Everton managed to keep their academy prospect at Goodison Park.

Now the two clubs will potentially battle it out again for Gordon’s signature again if Chelsea choose to “reignite” their interest in the midfielder.

“Chelsea face competition if they are to reignite their interest in Everton forward Anthony Gordon,” as quoted by Football London.

“If Gordon is in-demand again then there could be some off-field rivalry, as football.london understands Spurs are still monitoring him.

“Although a deal is more likely in the summer than January, nothing can be taken off the table. Chelsea themselves are expected to be busy in the winter window, but have more pressing issues in midfield and defence.”

Get rid.

Everton should have got rid of Gordon this summer and made the most out of the extortionate money that was coming in for him.

The youngster has been way off the mark so far this campaign and despite a bright start, his performances have left much to be desired.

If Chelsea and Tottenham return to the negotiations table then the Blues need to get as high of a bid as they can for the winger.

Lampard and the Toffees need to have some attacking reinforcements lined up however, before doing so, better talents could be signed with the money brought in from Gordon.

Whether Chelsea does return for Gordon remains to be seen, Thomas Tuchel was the biggest champion of the young Englishman and it’s unclear if Graham Potter feels the same.

A deal for Gordon will more likely take place in summer than January, so there is plenty of time for the 21-year-old to hike up in transfer price in the meantime.
