Everton in transfer battle with Southampton and Crystal Palace for Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres
Everton are reportedly ready to battle Premier League rivals Southampton and Crystal Palace to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres.
According to Football League World [24 November], the three sides along with West Ham are prepared to lure the 24-year-old to their respective clubs after the World Cup.
He currently leads the Championship goal-scoring charts with nine strikes this season and is on the radar of a number of top flight clubs.
Make a move
While Gyokeres plays a number nine predominantly, he is also capable of playing as a wide left attacker and that’s an area Everton need to strengthen.
They signed Neal Maupay over the summer and while he’s not really hit the ground running, he is a decent deputy to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
However, the Toffees are lacking goals and signing someone like the 24-year-old would certainly ensure that they have another goal threat.
He’s even won the Golden Boot at the UEFA under-19 Championship back in 2017 so it’s pretty clear that he’s made for the big occasion and could be ready to make the step up.
Anthony Gordon has struggled this season while Demarai Gray and Dwight McNeil aren’t really goal scorers, leaving Calvert-Lewin being the main threat in the final third.
The Sweden international was also on the club’s radar in the summer so we will not be surprised if another move for him is made in January.
