Everton forward Tom Cannon can be the heir to Richarlison’s throne

Everton forward Tom Cannon has shared his hopes and dreams to become a vital part of Frank Lampard’s first-team squad in the Premier League.

The teenager netted his first goal for the Blues in a 5-1 demolition of Western Sydney Wanderers at the CommBank Stadium on 23 November 2022.

Cannon confessed he is now “working hard” to earn a spot in Everton’s first-team by taking all the knowledge he can from Lampard.

“It’s important [that I stake my claim for a place in the team]. I just need to keep listening to the people around me, keep listening to the gaffer and taking on all the advice I can get,” said Cannon as quoted by evertonfc.com.

“I’ll keep working hard.”

Richarlison heir.

Cannon has been in prolific form for the Under-21s and Under-18s over the past two years and his goal against Western Sydney Wanderers will only improve his case for a first-team spot further.

Could he be the Richarlison heir? Quite possibly, he’s certainly got the electrifying talent that the Brazilian possesses but there’s still a way to go yet.

Everton desperately needs a man who can score goals for them week in, and week out and Cannon definitely provides Lampard with some food for thought.

This isn’t to say that he keeps the club out of the market, but he deserves to be given a chance to shine in the Premier League.

The hole Richarlison has left at the club has never been filled and Lampard has never attempted to fill it by promoting a solid youth talent up through the ranks.

Nine goals in 15 appearances in the Premier League 2 and other cup competitions highlight Cannon has an eye for goal.

Before the January transfer window opens, it’s worth giving Cannon a punt, if he exceeds expectations he could very well give the Blues an option they didn’t think they had.
