Everton: Belgium newspaper reacts to Amadou Onana performance after World Cup defeat v Morocco
Belgium newspaper Nieuwsblad has heaped praise on Amadou Onana after the Everton midfielder started the Red Devil’s 2-0 defeat against Morocco.
The 21-year-old played for 60 minutes before being substituted after picking up a yellow card which will keep him out of Belgium’s last group-stage fixture against Canada.
Despite the caution, Nieuwsblad have suggested (Via Twitter, 27 November) the Everton man is “already indispensable” for Roberto Martinez’s side after making his full World Cup debut.
Impressive
For Onana to stand out in a star-studded lineup like Belgium’s is impressive. The midfielder has shown he is more than capable of competing with some of the World’s best players and the experience in Qatar will do him wonders moving forward.
Jermaine Jenas has also praised the 21-year-old having recently suggested he’s been a “decent” addition to Everton’s midfield unit.

Belgium now face a battle to qualify for the round of 16 as they take on Croatia in their final group-stage fixture. Unfortunately, Onana will be sweating on his teammates getting the job done, with Martinez unable to call upon the Everton man.
Onana has potentially been the pick of Everton’s summer additions having adapted well to life in the Premier League after his move from Ligue 1 side Lille.
After his displays for club and country, the midfielder is likely to be an integral part of Frank Lampard’s plans for the remainder of the Premier League season. Let’s hope Martinez’s side get through and give the youngster further opportunities to flourish on the biggest stage.
