Everton starlet Tom Cannon was reportedly watched by scouts as well as Football League managers ahead of the January transfer window.

According to the Liverpool Echo [30 November], a number of Toffees youngsters could be set for loan exits once the window opens.

Cannon bagged the winning goal Under-21s against Mansfield Town at Goodison Park on Wednesday a few days after he scored for the senior side in the friendly in Australia.

Stay or leave?

Cannon appears to be on the fringes of the first team and it could make a lot of sense to loan him to a top-half EFL club.

He’ll play there week in and week out against players that are arguably at his level and if he does go on to score a handful, he could be a first-team player next season.

We’re not saying that he’ll be a starter, but he could be a regular option on the bench and that will be refreshing to other youngsters in the academy.

Isaac Price, Stanley Mills and Reece Welch are the other names tipped with big futures and they too could be on their way out in January.

Loan pathways manager James Vaughan was in attendance to watch the under-21s and he’ll surely be keeping tabs on everyone’s progress.

Cannon was surely delighted with his performance and even took to Instagram to make it known to the Everton fans.
