Everton eye two new transfers that could lead to Tom Cannon loan exit in January

Everton eyeing up two new transfers for attackers in January could lead to the loan exit of exciting teenager Tom Cannon, according to Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas.

The Blues are in dire need of some attacking reinforcements and the January transfer window arguably couldn’t have come at a better time.

Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas confessed that despite Cannon having “ice running through his veins” in front of the goal, the Blues will still look at signing two new attackers in January.

“Not sure what comes next for Tom Cannon, feels a loan spell from January may be the next logical step in his development,” said Thomas on Twitter.

“Especially with two new attackers potentially strengthening the senior team. But this lad can score. Ice running through his veins in front of goal.”

Yes, the Blues should turn to the transfer market to look for some new attackers in January, but why not keep Cannon at the club and let him earn more first-team shots?

Everton

Keep him around.

Keeping Cannon in and amongst things at Goodison Park would be great for his career moving forward and he can learn the tricks of the trade from first-team members.

There have to be questions about whether Everton will actually bring in two new strikers, it seems a bit of a stretch with the club’s financial constraints.

If they don’t then it’s an obvious decision to let Cannon stay, but if they do the club should look at promoting him to first-team action anyway, he’s good enough to thrive now.

When was the last young striker given a chance at Everton to pave his way through to Premier League action?

The teenager is an obvious poacher in front of the goal and it would be much more beneficial to see him nurtured by Lampard than sent out on loan to a scrappy league.

Ellis Simms’s loan move to Sunderland is a prime example of this, injuries have plagued him during his time at the Stadium of Light but the loan move has really done nothing for him to earn a first-team spot at Goodison Park.
