Journalist hails game-changing moment from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford

Jordan Pickford cemented his name as England’s best goalkeeper in their resounding 3-0 win over Senegal on 4 December, according to Liverpool Echo journalist Connor O’Neill.

Pickford made a crucial save in the first half of the game at 0-0 that could have potentially changed the outcome of the fixture completely.

O’Neill admitted that the game could have been a “different story” if Pickford didn’t make the stop and that the save proved why the Everton man is the best in the country.

“Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden rightly getting all the plaudits, but if Jordan Pickford doesn’t make that save in the first-half, it is a potentially different story for England,” said the Journalist on Twitter.

“The Everton man once again showing why he is the best in the country.”

Everton

Class.

Pickford always turns up for England and it’s crazy to think people were questioning his position as England’s number one heading into the FIFA World Cup.

His displays however, so far in the tournament have proved yet again why he is Gareth Southgate’s, go-to man.

From an Everton viewpoint, it’s great to see one of our own mixing it with the best on the grandest stage of them all.

Nevertheless, on a more sour note, it likely means that Premier League juggernauts will be even keener in trying to lure Pickford away from Goodison Park.

There has been nothing to suggest that Pickford will entertain any offers just yet, but there is certainly interest there, Everton’s league position at the end of the season will likely be the deciding factor in his decision.

Anything other than a top-half finish may make the 28-year-old look to play his football elsewhere, it would be hard to blame him if the Toffees terrible form continued.
