Everton must avoid giving in to Jordan Pickford transfer temptations

Everton must avoid giving in to Jordan Pickford’s transfer temptations, the shot-stopper is a pivotal component of Frank Lampard’s mission moving forward.

The Englishman has proved time and time again his value to the Blues and is currently shining on the grandest stage of them all at the FIFA World Cup.

Journalist Paul Brown confessed that Pickford leaving the Toffees would leave a huge “gaping hole” in Lampard’s side and they’d need a very high-calibre replacement for him.

“Selling Pickford will obviously leave a huge gaping hole where they don’t need one because they’re clearly looking for people in other areas, and they need to replace him with someone of a very high calibre,” said Brown as quoted by GIVEMESPORT.

Brown’s comments couldn’t be more right, Pickford is pivotal to the Toffees and whether the club could line up a high-calibre replacement with other transfer desires is unlikely.

Contract squabbles.

Pickford is in the last 18 months of his Everton contract which may leave the club in a precarious situation, but they must withstand the attention he will receive.

Fabrizio Romano recently divulged that Chelsea are ‘monitoring’ Pickford, with luck, they will stick by their in-form goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

This one solely lands on Everton’s hierarchy to deal with, they could easily let Pickford go for a big-money sum, but doing so would be a foolish move.

It’s hard to think of or name any goalkeepers who are on the market right now, who could slip into Pickford’s position at Goodison Park.

He’s saved the team on countless occasions and the high-calibre replacement mentioned above simply doesn’t exist right now.

There are plenty of other problem positions within the Everton squad right now and selling Pickford would ultimately create another one that isn’t needed.

It’s pretty simple, offer Pickford a new and improved contract, one that the Englishman deserves for his top performances in recent years and keep him on Merseyside for the foreseeable.
