Sky Sports pundit blown away by what Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford did for England v Senegal

Paul Robinson has been thrilled by the performances of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for England after the 3-0 win over Senegal on 4 December.

The Toffees keeper kept his third clean sheet at the World Cup and the Three Lions have conceded the fewest goals in the competition.

He also is now only one clean sheet away Peter Shilton’s record of 10 clean sheets in major tournaments for England and Robinson does not see England change.

Speaking Betfred, Robinson, a Sky Sports pundit said, “He was excellent again. I think he’s always been in an England shirt.

“It frustrates me that we have to keep having discussions about who should be England’s number one. There are no doubts who should be England’s number one.

“Yet again on the big stage, he’s stepped up and put in a performance.”

Settled it once and for all

Pickford has been under tremendous scrutiny for no reason over the past few years and he’s always managed to silence his critics.

Despite him putting in world class performances in the last two major tournaments, there were people calling for Gareth Southgate to axe him for Nick Pope or Dean Henderson ahead of the World Cup.

The likes of Tim Sherwood, even though they’re ex-players, fail to understand that Southgate is not going to remove one of his most consistent players.

The England backline is used to playing with each other and that’s why they have conceded the fewest in the World Cup and just one from open play.

Even though he does make the occasional error for club and country, he’s bailing his side out more often than not and he’s a star performer for both club and country.

Everton are indeed lucky to have an asset like him on the books and they’d have been worse off him without him in the team.
