Everton ace Jordan Pickford will be thrilled with major Kylian Mbappe news emerging in France ahead of England game

Jordan Pickford is getting set for one of the biggest games of his career on Saturday evening – and the latest news coming out of the France squad could be a big boost for the Everton keeper.

France’s talisman Kylian Mbappe reportedly missed training on Tuesday (6 December) with the 23-year-old’s participation in the fixture potentially in doubt.

RMC Sport report (6 December) that Mbappe was “not present” with there being no reason given for his absence. It’s understood the current World Cup topscorer is working in the recovery room and that a “long discussion” took place between Didier Deschamps and the team doctor.

This could be potentially huge news for Pickford and England with much of the talk surrounding the 23-year-old in the lead-up to the fixture. Mbappe is the hottest property in World football at the moment and has the ability to win a game on his own. If he doesn’t feature on Saturday (10 December) then it could well put England as firm favourites to win the game and progress to their second semi-final in four years.

The Everton man will still fancy his chances even if the superstar was in France’s lineup. Pickford has been in fine form in Qatar and made two big saves in England’s last outing against Senegal. The Three Lions’ route to the quarter-final has been relatively kind, with Deschamps men set to be a big step up.

Everton’s keeper will be relishing the chance to propel his country into the last four. He will need to be at his commanding best if England want to harbour any hopes of going all the way in Qatar.
