Yerry Mina picked in Richarlison best XI with three former Everton players named

Former Everton star Richarlison has picked Toffees defender Yerry Mina in the best XI of players he has played with throughout his career.

The Brazilian international was tasked with putting together a side with only players he has played alongside by Ge Globo and the Colombian central defender was named in the back four.

Richarlison also included three other players who he was teammates with at Goodison Park with Lucas Digne at left-back, Allan in central midfield and James Rodriguez among the attackers.

Five Tottenham Hotspur players were also named in his all-time best side with Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min leading the line, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg alongside Allan and Eric Dier and Emerson Royal completing the back line.

Former Watford shot-stopper Heurelho Gomes was between the sticks while Fluminense striker Fred, 39, partnered Kane up front.

Of all the players

Maybe Richarlison chose to be diplomatic and not pick too many players from one club but of all the Evertonians he has played with, Mina would not be anybody’s first pick had they been asked to guess who.

Rodriguez and Digne are more understandable being world-class players on their day, as they were numerous times for the Toffees, but Allan and the Colombian are not in that category.

Everton

Other Everton stars such as Jordan Pickford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin can feel hard done by that their former teammate has snubbed them for other, Brazilian options too.

You have to point fingers at the recruitment team at Goodison Park if they are the very best that the club had to offer during Richarlison’s time on Merseyside, which was a good number of years.

Had he chose not to be diplomatic, Mina could expect to be replaced by Tottenham defender Christian Romero, in truth, but perhaps the Brazil-Argentina rivalry had something to do about that.
