Frank Lampard can help Everton beat Wolves to Matheus Cunha transfer in new twist

Frank Lampard can help Everton beat Wolves to the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The 23-year-old is being linked with an imminent exit from the La Liga club with 90min claiming that Everton have an interest in signing him.

Phillips confessed that Lampard’s “pulling power” give the Blues an advantage over Wolves in the chase for Cunha’s coveted signature.

Everton

“Oh, for sure. Everton have got a good history as a club anyway, and I think what’s more important is Frank Lampard’s pulling power,” said Phillips as quoted by GIVEMESPORT.

“If a player is picking between Everton and Wolves, I think Lampard is going to be the standout decision-maker for any player really. We saw it at Chelsea, he single-handedly got players to sign for the club like Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz just with his influence.

“So, I think he can use that again at Everton, especially for a player like Cunha. I think they’ve got a better chance of signing him than Wolves.”

Everton

Needed.

Cunha presents an interesting proposition in the Toffees chase for a new centre-forward and has the type of class that can get Evertonians drooling.

Despite not hitting the heights at Atletico Madrid, the forward has shown during his time in the Bundesliga at Hertha Berlin that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.

13 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances earned him a move to La Liga and it’s these goal contributions that have got Everton purring.

It seems the battle for his signature will be tough but Phillips is right, there is no better person to have at the negotiations table than Everton boss Lampard.

He seems to understand what gets players to tick and his persuasion skills will do the Blues a massive favour in this one and other deals moving forward.

This is arguably Lampard’s best trait as a manager and something Everton have seen play out in deals like the one for talented youngster Amadou Onana.
