Everton must reignite interest in signing Daichi Kamada during January transfer window
Everton must step up their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker Daichi Kamada after an impressive World Cup campaign which helped Japan reach the last-16 stages in Qatar.
The Toffees have previously been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, who is attracting plenty of interest from around Europe after a string of highly impressive World Cup displays [Dean Jones].
However, this shouldn’t come as a shock to Frank Lampard.

The midfield maestro has been at the heart of all things good for his Bundesliga side this season, forming a strong partnership with Mario Gotze and netting seven goals in just 13 league appearances.
A former Sagan Tosu star, the Japanese international showed a great deal of versatility in his game in Qatar, being able to play central midfield, out on the wing, or even as a makeshift forward – a fact that won’t have gone noticed to Lampard.
Although Tottenham Hotspur, Roma, and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in the creative midfielder, the Toffees must step up their interest and push to get the signing over the line in the January transfer window.
Kamada is out of contract at the end of the season, so unless Frankfurt are willing to lose him on a free transfer, a move away next month is all but confirmed.
The likes of Thierry Henry have expressed their admiration for the midfielder, with the ex-Arsenal forward calling him “a very good player” who will “always find a way to score”.

That final phrase is why Lampard must look to secure the services of Kamada.
His ability to pop up from midfield with goals is what Everton dearly needs in the second half of the season, with the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Amadou Onana and Abdoulaye Doucoure not known for their creative spark.
If The Toffees can lure the Japan international to Merseyside, he could prove himself the creative spark that can unlock Premier League defences – a trait Everton clearly lacks.
Considering a cut-price deal could be on the cards, Lampard must go all out to sign Kamada in the January transfer window.
