Everton fans stance detailed as Roberto Martinez linked with Goodison Park return

Everton fans are likely to be open to having Roberto Martinez making a Goodison Park return after he left the Belgium job recently.

The Spaniard failed to get his side out of the group stages of the World Cup and was eventually shown the door by their association.

Give Me Sport journalist Dean Jones claims that Farhad Moshiri could turn to Martinez if Frank Lampard fails to get the right results for the Toffees.

Everton

He said, “Obviously, with Martinez now being available, it’s something that’s going to be talked about.

“I think there are Everton fans that would now be open to a return and maybe it’s a path they’ll have to consider if things go badly in January.”

Not needed

We’re unaware of what fans he’s referring to because the fans we know clearly do not want to see Martinez return.

His best time as a manager came at Wigan and we’re surprised to see him failing but still getting better jobs.

However, we now feel that he’s peaked at being the manager of one of the best-ranked teams in the world but he underperformed with what was their golden generation.

He has won individual awards over the past including the Belgian Sports Coach of the Year in 2018 as the FA Cup Manager of the Year when he guided Wigan to the title in 2013, but is no longer that good a manager.

His tactical naivete was exposed when he managed Belgium and Everton fans would not want a repeat of that at Goodison Park given the mess they’re currently in.

He is understood to have turned down a move to Everton already earlier in 2022, but things may change now that he no longer has a job.
