Everton Women's expert 'optimistic' despite tough run of victory

We’re delighted to welcome Peter MacFarlane, a member of the Everton Women Official Supporters Club, as our exclusive Everton Women expert.

Everton Women’s expert Peter MacFarlane feels there’s reason to be optimistic after the Toffees have come through a tough run of fixtures.

Brian Sorensen’s side have faced both Manchester clubs and Arsenal in three of their last four fixtures and currently sit eighth in the Women’s Super League.

Despite losing the three fixtures, MacFarlane was pleased with the performances, with the Toffees’ goal difference remaining “unscathed”.

“It’s been such a tough run of fixtures, having played all of the top teams back to back and it would be easy to feel downbeat, but the performances have given me plenty to be optimistic about,” MacFarlane exclusively told Goodison News.

“Arsenal last weekend was another example of the fighting spirit within the squad, slightly dampened by the first-half performance in the Conti Cup against Manchester United.

“One big thing is that having come through this tough run in the WSL, although the results haven’t gone our way, our goal difference remains relatively unscathed.”

The Toffees will have to wait longer to get back to winning ways after Sunday’s (11 December) fixture against Brighton was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Sorensen’s side face another Continental Cup fixture against Durham on Saturday 17 December. MacFarlane has previously stated how he would like the Toffees to be more “proactive” and look to take the game to opponents in their upcoming fixtures to get back to winning ways.
