Everton hire coach Sean Miller after Wolves exit in behind-the-scenes shift

Kevin Thelwell has moved to improve the Everton backroom staff by hiring former Wolves man Sean Miller, according to the Training Ground Guru.

The Toffees moved quickly to secure Miller’s services after he was released by the Molineux club following the appointment of former Spain manager Julen Lopetegui.

Miller has spent seven years in Wolverhampton as a First Team Strength and Conditioning Coach but he now joins Everton as a First-Team Physical Performance Coach.

Thelwell has already worked with Miller in the past having been the director of football at Wolves before eventually moving to Goodison Park in the same role in February 2022.

He has already overseen a lot of change behind-the-scenes at Finch Farm, most notably the departures of Duncan Ferguson and David Unsworth who had been staples of the club for years prior.

Small steps

Thelwell was brought to Everton by Farhad Moshiri with the battle plan of slowly revolutionising the backroom staff at Finch Farm to take the club in a different direction.

It was never going to be a sudden, overnight change and there are still a lot of steps to take but Thelwell is taking each day as it comes and making moves when he can.

He must have seen Miller be released upon Lopetegui’s appointment and been swiftly on the phone with him to have already brought him to Merseyside after such a short space of time.

Frank Lampard should have still had a say on the matter because he is the one who will work with him on a daily basis and if he does not click then things could turn sour very quickly.

Luckily, Thelwell has been working with Lampard for nearly a year already so will know the kind of person who works well with him and Miller will surely be in that category having been hired.
