Everton insiders speak out as fans thrown into ‘Frenzy’ after Farhad Moshiri spotted with potential investor

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri was “purely networking” when he was spotted with a Qatari Sheik during the World Cup last week.

Moshiri was photographed with Dr Khalid bin Thani Al Thani at the Netherlands vs Argentina quarter-final, which led to speculation that he could be holding talks about taking on investment for the Toffees.

However writing in their World Cup Agenda column (12 December), the Daily Mail claim the meeting was just networking and no talks were held about investment.

Everton

“Everton supporters were thrown into a frenzy when owner Farhad Moshiri was snapped with leading Qatari businessman His Excellency Sheik Dr Khalid bin Thani Al Thani at the Netherlands v Argentina quarter-final,” they wrote.

“The Merseyside club were seeking investment over the summer as work continues on their new, £500million stadium and fans were quick to speculate that the meeting could have been linked to a takeover.

“However, club insiders say Moshiri was purely networking.”

Chance

We’ll obviously never know the nature of the conversations that were had between Moshiri and Al Thani, but if he didn’t use it to try and bring money into Everton then questions should be asked.

The club are obviously struggling financially after footing the bill for the new stadium and trying to stay in the Premier League, and Moshiri is known to be open to investment.

So having one of the world’s most successful and richest businessmen in front of you is a clear sign of the talks you should be having, but with that said Everton isn’t his only business and we have no idea if Al Thani is even remotely interested.

Whether he did or didn’t is a bit irrelevant now though, and Moshiri must find a way to fund a January transfer window without making the team weaker and helping us get through another tough period to avoid yet another relegation battle.
