Everton must be wary of hijacking deal for unwanted forward Matheus Cunha
David Ornstein of The Athletic has reported that Everton are long-term admirers of Matheus Cunha on December 12, but it is not clear if they will launch a bid.
But the Blues must be wary of hijacking a move for the forward who has been heavily linked with fellow Premier League club Wolves.
Journalist Sam Leveridge confessed that Atletico Madrid fans “can’t wait” to see the back of Cunha, who has had an impressively quick hero-to-villain journey.
“Matheus Cunha started the season taking over Luis Suárez’s number 9 and as a fan favourite,” said Leveridge on Twitter.
“Four months, 17 games and 0 goals later, he’s on his way to Wolves and fans can’t wait to see the back of him.
“An impressively quick hero-to-villain journey.”

Leave it.
Leveridge is right on this one, Cunha isn’t the player he once was and his woeful time in La Liga is a good enough reason for the Toffees to avoid a move.
At a time when a proven poacher is needed to come in and sure things up for Frank Lampard’s side, Cunha isn’t the man to do so.
Ultimately, there are better players on the market who would suit Everton’s style more than Cunha and who would come in and hit the ground running.
There’s no guarantee Cunha could come in and start scoring goals straight away and Everton wants to avoid signing another striker in the mould of Neal Maupay.
17 games and 0 goals for Atletico this campaign, screams give me a miss and it would be foolish for the Everton board to waste millions on the forward.
There’s no denying that Cunha is talented but he simply isn’t the man to get the Blues scoring goals.
