Everton eye January transfer swoop for former Barcelona starlet Joan Gonzalez
Everton are reportedly eyeing a January move for former Barcelona starlet and current Lecce midfielder Joan Gonzalez.
According to Gazzetta [13 December], West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in securing the services of the 20-year-old.
Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on the Spanish midfielder whose current deal at the Italian club runs until 2027.

Planning for the future
The report mentions that Barcelona regret letting the young midfielder leave on a free transfer and now the Toffees seem to have a chance to sign him.
The five-time Champions League winners have an abundance of midfielders at their disposal, but the fact that they saw something to sign him in 2019 suggests that he does have the potential to go on to big things.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Toffees can sign him ahead of West Ham and Spurs, both of whom can offer him European football.
They’re also better off financially than Everton and foreign players tend to prefer moves to London over clubs in the North of England.
However, if Frank Lampard is sure that he wants Gonzalez then by all means the Toffees must secure his services and at least make an initial enquiry.
Lampard himself is subject to interest from the English FA to replace Gareth Southgate and it remains to be seen how that saga transpires as he fits within their financial parameters.
