Tom Davies talks possible as Everton look to reduce wage bill
The Athletic have reported that Everton are keen to reduce their wage bill this season with players like Tom Davies possibly set to have discussions over their future at the club.
It’s a common theme with Premier League clubs to reassess the landscapes of their current squads and reducing the wage bill ultimately provides clubs with bigger transfer funds.
The report from The Athletic states that Everton are indeed looking to reduce their wage bill but this will ultimately result in outgoings from the club.

“I imagine there will at least be some discussions over Tom Davies’ future, but that one may be as much about where the 24-year-old sees himself at this point in his career,” as quoted by The Athletic.
“As mentioned earlier, Everton do want to bring their wage bill down. And doing that requires outgoings.”

Pivotal few months.
The next few months will be pivotal for Davies and his future as an Everton player, hopefully, he’ll be able to get a new and improved contract signed and sealed.
You always want the products of your youth academy to succeed and this fully applies to Davies, this will also likely give him some bargaining power in discussions.
His progress has ground to a halt in recent seasons but this has been largely down to multiple injuries and a conveyer belt of different managers.
Frank Lampard however, does seem undecided on Davies and it’s not yet fully clear whether or not the former Chelsea boss rates the midfielder highly.
When fit, Davies has only started three Premier League games this season, alongside four outings from the bench, hardly new contract-worthy stats.
He’s currently out injured too which won’t help his case, he’ll need to hit the ground running when he returns to full fitness and fast.
