Everton and Napoli in transfer race to sign Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao
Everton have reportedly been joined in a transfer battle by Serie A side Napoli to secure the services of Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao.
According to Italian media outlet Tutto Udinese [14 December], the Toffees have been following the Brazilian defender for a while.
However, the Naples outfit have now initiated contact with the club owners on Wednesday morning in order to see what their intentions are over a potential January sale of the 26-year-old.

Battle heats up
Napoli undoubtedly appear to have the stronger hand here as they’re a club in the Champions League and that instantly makes them a more attractive prospect than the Toffees.
They’re also in the Serie A so it will not be a drastic change for Becao who would adapt quicker there than in the Premier League.
However, if he does have aspirations to move to England and Everton can match what Napoli are paying him, then he would be happy to move to Goodison Park as well.
Italian media outlet Messaggero on 12 October claimed that the 26-year-old is yet to decide whether or not he’s going to sign a new deal at his club.
They’ve also said that it will cost £17.6million in order to prise him away from Udinese in the January transfer window so Everton need to be prepared to shell out the big bucks.
If they manage to raise decent money from selling Yerry Mina and/or Michael Keane, a move for the Brazilian becomes a lot more affordable.
