Everton look for new transfer as Vasco da Gama wonderkid Andrey Santos update drops

Palmeiras confirmed the signing of Brazilian wonder kid Endrick to Real Madrid on 15 December and it seems like Everton are trying to keep in with the trend of acquiring their own Brazilian talent.

The Blues have been said to be in frequent contact over the possible transfer of Vasco da Gama wonder Andrey Santos, according to journalist Lucas Pedrosa.

This could prove to be a shrewd bit of business from Everton and it’s one that should get fans’ mouths watering, Santos is a real talent.

“Andrey is not sold. No official negotiations have been opened. But Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton have made frequent contact with their staff. Today, the panorama is this,” said Pedrosa on Twitter.

So it seems Everton will face stiff competition for the Brazilian youngster’s signature, but they must act quickly if they are to pull off their own Endrick-Esque signing.

Everton

Long-term plan.

Santos is the type of signing you want your club to make and he could be a real player in the long-term plan of Lampard at the Toffees.

At 18 years old Santos would already bring with him to Goodison Park a wealth of experience, something which is a common trait of all the great Brazilian wonder kids.

He’s already made 42 appearances for Vasco and has been compared to Spain and Barcelona great Sergio Busquets for his classy and mature style of play.

Press resistance and his ability to screen the defence make the comparisons obvious but it’s his clinical nature in the final third that puts him above your classic defensive midfielder.

It seems the term “box-to-box” was based on Santos’ abilities and the youngster has the kind of engine to carry the ball and run back relentlessly for 90 minutes.

And whilst Everton’s midfield may not be the immediate area for concern, it has shown frailties during the Premier League campaign so far.

Amadou Onana and Alex Iwobi have been brilliant, but Idrissa Gana Gueye has been inconsistent and on the whole poor, and his age suggests his tank may be up.

The question then arises of who comes in to replace Gueye when he isn’t performing. Tom Davies is out injured and hasn’t gained Lampard’s trust and whilst James Garner is decent he again is suffering from multiple injury problems.

This leaves the door open for an exciting new midfielder to come into the fold at Goodison Park and they don’t come much better than the young Brazilian.

If the Toffees are indeed interested, they would be foolish not to attempt to sign Santos, he’s a potential game changer.
