Napoli lead Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in Rodrigo Becao chase

Napoli are reportedly leading Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao in the January transfer window.

According to Messaggero Vennetto [14 December], the Brazilian views Napoli as a welcome destination and would be open to moving there.

Ideal conditions have been created for him to move to Naples with the Serie A club already touching base with Udinese’s owners as well.

Everton

Move on

It’s pretty evident that Becao wants Champions League football and to challenge for titles so Everton can forget about wanting to sign him.

Spurs still have a chance as they are in the Round of 16 as well but silverware is something that’s eluded the club since 2008.

The Toffees desperately need a new centre-back in January if Yerry Mina or Michael Keane are being shown the door as they do not have any real strength in depth.

It’s understood that it will cost £17.6million in order to prise him away from Udinese in the January transfer window and that’s not the kind of money they would want to shell out for a backup centre-back.

Their priorities are to sign another wide attacker and it remains to be seen if they end up getting anyone over the line.

January is a tricky window to do deals and if Everton really want to sign anyone they need to start the process right away before more clubs end up snapping away their targets.
