Everton coach Ashley Cole spotted in private training drills with Anthony Gordon and Dwight McNeil

Ashley Cole was reportedly spotted working with under-performing Everton attackers Anthony Gordon and Dwight McNeil in training.

According to the Liverpool Echo [16 December], the Toffees coach challenged both players with body pads with Frank Lampard looking on.

Both Gordon and McNeil have not performed up to their expectations this season and will be hoping to improve in the second half with the first game back being against Wolves on boxing day.

Everton

Much needed

Gordon and McNeil have not started the season as many would’ve expected them to.

The Toffees were subject to a lot of uncertainty over the summer as Chelsea eyed a move for Gordon.

They decided to snub big money offers for the 21-year-old and he ended up staying put at Goodison Park.

Even Newcastle were linked with a move for him but nothing came of it due to Frank Lampard and the club’s reluctance to sell him.

However, he’s not delivering the goods this season and McNeil too, does not seem to have fit in fully at the club.

Hopefully, Cole and the other Everton coaches have spent quality time with them in the World Cup break as there’s plenty of improvement left to be done.

Gordon needs to start being the game changer we know him to be and must justify his astronomical price tag as he currently seems a million miles away from it.
