Everton fans forced into 150% ticket increase price as fans call for change

Everton fans have been forced into a 150% ticket price increase after Manchester United chose to raise the prices for the Emirates FA Cup clash on 6 January.

The tickets in question have been increased from £30 to £45, the equivalent of what a normal Premier League match day ticket would be.

Everton Fans’ Forum announced on Twitter their disgust at the changes and voiced an appeal to the Football Association and English Football League to cap prices for FA Cup and League Cup fixtures.

“Blues travelling to Old Trafford in January have had to pay 150% above what it would have cost for a Premier League ticket,” said the Everton Fans’ Forum on Twitter.

“Join us in calling for a cap on prices for Cup fixtures and put the interests of supporters first.”

Everton

Widen the policy.

A £30 away ticket pricing policy was brought into action where clubs unanimously agreed to keep the price cap for the next three seasons.

The £30 ticket limit was first introduced in 2016-17 by the Premier League Away Supporters’ Initiative and will be next reviewed in 2025.

This is arguably one of the best policies that have ever been introduced in the English game and is something that needs to be spread out to cup competitions too.

Even more so in the current economic climate, fans shouldn’t have to be paying over the odds for tickets as well as travelling costs to away fixtures.

With luck, this is something that can be changed at some point, but it’s highly unlikely anything will happen soon unless a heap of the club’s come together and fight for it.

On the Blues’ current form, the away trip to Old Trafford may be the team’s only FA Cup fixture this season anyway, hopefully, Lampard can muster up some cup magic for the travelling Toffees.
