Everton enter transfer race to sign Leeds United and Liverpool target George Hall

Everton have reportedly joined Liverpool and Leeds United in the race to sign Birmingham City midfielder George Hall.

According to the Daily Mirror’s John Cross at 11:49 am on 17 December, the Toffees have been looking to recruit youngsters for the future and the 18-year-old has emerged as a prime target.

Cross claims that Hall has made “huge strides” at St Andrews this season and has gone on to become a first-team player at a relatively tender age.

Battle heats up

It is going to be tough for Everton to secure the services of a player coveted by the likes of Liverpool and Leeds United.

Liverpool are one of the biggest spenders in the transfer market and can offer players European football while Leeds are known for their famed Thorp Arch system and have been good at promoting youngsters into the first team.

However, if there is a will there is a way and if Kevin Thelwell us advised by the scouts that he’s going to be one for the future, he will do everything he can to secure his services.

Speaking about Hall, Birmingham’s Under-18 coach Martyn Olorenshaw said in November 2021, “He is an attacking midfielder with an ability to create and score goals. He is explosive, dynamic and has the prowess to influence games.”

If there’s a type of midfielder that the Toffees need, is exactly the one that’s mentioned above and Hall can add that X-Factor in the middle of the park.

Most of the Toffees midfielders are focused on keeping the back door shut rather than being adventurous and look to create havoc in the final third.

Iwobi has shown plenty signs of promise but barring him there is nobody else and Hall could be moulded to be his understudy from the get go.
