Frank Lampard must utilise ruthless goalscorer Tom Cannon for Everton

Everton wonder Tom Cannon again showed his ruthless class in front of goal for the Under-21s against Lincoln City in the Papa John’s Trophy on December 14.

The Blues fell to a 4-2 defeat but this did little to keep Cannon’s blossoming name out of the headlines, scoring and assisting for the Toffees two goals on the evening.

Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas highlighted Cannon’s “ruthless” nature in front of the goal, confessing that the teenager can’t stop scoring at the moment.

“Tom Cannon can’t stop scoring. The teenager was ruthless again,” exclaimed Thomas on Twitter.

And the journalist isn’t wrong, Cannon can’t stop scoring and this is a trait that Frank Lampard’s first team is seriously lacking right now.

Teenage kicks.

We have heard it all before right? A teenage sensation taking Goodison Park by storm by the name of Wayne Rooney and whilst no one is suggesting Cannon is of the same ilk, he and Rooney share a useful trait.

Cannon’s fearlessness would be useful for Lampard right now, it is a team that is completely shy of goals and the teenager could add some fresh spirited competition.

Why not add a youngster into the mix who is scoring goals for fun at the moment? After all, it’s goals that the Blues need and this is something Cannon has displayed he can do at will.

Journalist Thomas highlighted that Cannon is “unable to stay out of the headlines” at the moment and this may tempt Lampard into giving him a proper first-team shot.

He’s featured a few times already but we are talking about a proper go at things in the Everton first team, Cannon seems to have the character that would thrive under this kind of pressure.

There are a few games before the January window reopens, where it’s likely Everton will make a move for a new forward, Cannon can put his name into the mix during this period.
