Everton want Ismaila Sarr or Matheus Cunha as Salomon Rondon quits, financial issues emerge
Everton are keen to sign either Ismaila Sarr or Matheus Cunha in January, but financial issues mean a loan deal is most likely according to the Mail on Sunday.
Frank Lampard is desperate to add some more creativity and firepower to his squad in January after a dire end to the first half of the season.
The Toffees endured a run of just one win in their final nine games, and goals became increasingly hard to come by. The winter break has given sidelined players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin a chance to return to fitness, but Lampard clearly wants more options in the final third.
As reported by the Mail on Sunday (18 December, Pg 97): “Salomon Rondon has left and centre-back Michael Keane could be sold.
“Lampard wants a striker in the mould of Watford’s Ismaila Sarr or Matheus Cunha at Atletico Madrid but financial constraints mean loan deals unless they manage to make a big sale.”

Lampard clearly feels as though this Everton team needs improving over January if it is to once again avoid relegation this season.
The Toffees sit 17th, just one point above the bottom three, but a continuation of their form before the break would quickly see Lampard’s team plunge into the drop zone.
Scoring has been the major issue for the side, and Neal Maupay has been unable to fill the void left by Richarlison in the summer. Admittedly, he’s not been helped by the persistent absence of Calvert-Lewin.
But while Lampard is able to identify the flaws in his side, the financial constraints shackle him from actually addressing them.
Both Sarr and Cunha are likely to have multiple offers made for them over the January window and if Everton are only able to offer a loan deal then it’ll quickly fall to the bottom of the pile.
Unless the Toffees are able to include obligatory future fees in their loan offers then the club could find it extremely difficult to bring players into Goodison Park next month.
