Everton: Jarrad Branthwaite ends speculation as he speaks out about PSV loan

Jarrad Branthwaite has seemingly ended speculation he could leave PSV to join a different club on loan from Everton after what he said.

The Daily Mail claimed on 8 December that the Toffees had reached an agreement to end the 20-year-old’s loan with the Eredivisie side but Eindhovens Dagblad reported on 11 December that he was set to stay at the Philips Stadium after all.

Roma had been courting the Cumbrian-born defender over a permanent January move [Forza Roma] but Jose Mourinho has not pursued any further since then and he has now moved to assure everybody he is happy to stay in Holland.

“This is just a very nice club, PSV. There are many committed people who want to form a family club together. I ended up in a pleasant team,” Branthwaite told Eindhovens Dagblad.

“This is a beautiful environment for me in all respects and, moreover, this competition is a good stage for further growth as a footballer. I am very satisfied here.”

Ruud not to

Frank Lampard has to be on the phone to PSV Eindhoven more often when the season resumes ensuring that Ruud van Nistelrooy is playing his up-and-coming defender as much as possible.

Branthwaite has not played nearly enough from the start so far this season in what was supposed to be a breakthrough year for the 20-year-old playing in European competition.

However, PSV have kept the same backline for the vast majority of games this season and van Nistelrooy is stubborn not to change it as they fight towards the top of the Dutch top flight.

That has got to change in the second half of the season if Everton want their starlet to be anywhere near a starting birth at Goodison Park next season.

He is very close to being good enough to start in the Premier League regularly but there are still some concerns that need ironing out before a club in the Toffees’ position can afford to take that risk and throw him into the deep end.
