Finance Expert reacts as Everton & Farhad Moshiri sign off on Salomon Rondon termination

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...

Dan Plumley has insisted that the figures will likely never be seen after Everton and Salomon Rondon mutually agreed to terminate his contract at Goodison Park.

The Finance Expert suggested that a small fee was likely paid out by Farhad Moshiri with the final six months of his contract finished off ahead of the January window.

It was shared that with the wages freed up at Goodison Park, it should open the door for Frank Lampard to bring in another player next month.

“There may be a small fee there based on the length of the contract to go,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“Obviously, if it’s six months then it is not massive in the grand scheme of things, you tend to find that most time you will be striking a deal somewhere down the middle.

“If it’s by mutual agreement, he is then free to join another club in the window, so, we never see the details of these things more often than not.

“We may see one-off payments in the accounts from time to time that relates to the compensation fees, and then you’re trying to work back and think who it was, so there may be a small cost to Everton.

“In the grand scheme of things, weighing up versus paying the remaining six months of his contract if he’s not going to be involved and paying his wages versus coming to an agreement to free up the wage bill and maybe then bringing in another player to cover.”

It would be very hard to find an Everton fan who would not support this decision, with more of the deadwood in the squad needing to be shown the exit door.

Rondon may be the first of many out of the club, and it has been years of poor decisions that may have led to this.
