Everton: Dire state of financial situation clear as transfers made to save club

The dire state of the financial situation at Everton has now become clear with the club forced to make transfers to avoid falling off a cliff, according to Forbes journalist James Nalton.

Salomon Rondon’s departure has highlighted yet again the club’s muddled transfer dealings where a player leaves for nothing to free up the wage bill.

The journalist confessed that the “dire state” of Everton’s financial situation is now clear following Rondon’s exit which proved to be an emergency signing of the wrong kind.

“The dire state of Everton’s financial situation around that time and, perhaps more pertinently, the potential repercussions of it if they were to break financial fair play rules, have since become clear,” as quoted by Forbes.

“Rondon was an emergency signing not only in terms of his role in the squad but also because of his availability on a free transfer.

“Most of the transfer business carried out by Everton in the 2021 summer transfer window, including the departure of high-earning players plus the subsequent sales of Lucas Digne and eventually Richarlison, was done to prevent the club from dropping off a financial precipice.”

Truth stings.

The truthful words from Nalton string like a viscous wasp on the not-so-bright summer’s day and the Blues’ poor transfer dealings have left them in a mountain of trouble.

Was the inability to replace Richarlison in the summer down to constraints placed on the club by Financial Fair Play rules? If so not signing anyone makes sense.

And in a time where Everton desperately needs forward reinforcements in the team, hopefully, taking Rondon off the wage bill has helped towards freeing up funds.

It’s crazy to think that a top Premier League team needs to free up funds in the modern game, especially after the big sale of a striker in the summer.

Nevertheless, this seems to be the precarious position the Blues are in but questions must be raised sooner rather than later about what is actually going on.

Clarity is all fans ask for and the lack of it regarding situations like this only causes massive amounts of concerns over the handling of the club.
