Everton may submit official bid for Empoli defender Fabiano Parisi in January transfer window

Everton could reportedly submit an official bid for Empoli defender Fabiano Parisi in the January transfer window amid interest from a host of clubs.

According to Pianet Empoli [21 December], the Toffees are “serious” about securing the services of the 22-year-old once the market opens.

Apart from them, several Italian clubs like Napoli, Inter, Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina and Torino are keen while Ligue 1 side Nice appears to be the keenest to sign him.

Worth exploring

Parisi plays as a left-back and while that’s not a position the Toffees desperately need to strengthen in January, they could consider it at the right price.

No decision has been made about Ruben Vinagre and if Frank Lampard reckons that the Italian defender will provide better competition to him, then Everton could come in with an offer.

That said, we do not see this being priority until they have secured the services of another attacker as well as a centre-back to add to their strength in depth.

It has been revealed recently that the Toffees will not be making any efforts to retain the services of Yerry Mina and are likely to cash in on him next month.

The same can be said of Michael Keane who’s fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park and the club would rather he’s off the payroll and get a substantial transfer fee due to his homegrown status.

It remains to be seen if signing Parisi means a shift to a back three with him playing as a left-sided centre-back as that’s a role we think he would be comfortable playing in.
