Besiktas ‘extremely unlikely’ to trigger Dele Alli clause with Everton deal set to fall through

Dele Alli is now “extremely unlikely” to sign permanently for Besiktas which would see him return to Everton in the summer, according to Fussball Transfers.

The 26-year-old experienced a new low at Vodafone Park on Wednesday as he was substituted off after just 29 minutes in the Turkish Cup where Besiktas were 2-0 down to a third-tier side.

Fussball Transfers described this latest episode of the Alli saga as a “humiliation” for the England international who is yet to complete 90 minutes in the Super League this season.

As a result of his continuous poor performances, the Black and Whites are not interested in triggering either his January or summer buyout clauses included in the loan deal from Goodison Park.

Besiktas fans made their voices known to Alli too as there were audible cheers when his number was shown on the board and it was followed by loud boos as he trudged off the field.

Just a couple of years ago, Alli was a sensation at Tottenham Hotspur and one of the very first names on Gareth Southgate’s England teamsheet so to see him struggling so much in Turkey is baffling.

He’s not had any huge injuries that have left him out for months on end so this is all down to him and only he knows why is suddenly an outcast at Everton.

Frank Lampard doesn’t want anything to do with him and he made that fairly obvious when he loaned him to Besiktas late in the summer window after he failed to impress at the start of the season.

It is such a paid fall from grace that he still seems far too good for the Championship but if he has any hopes of playing in England again, he might have to lower himself to the second tier.

You can’t see why any Premier League club would want to take him right now unless he starts to find some form in Turkey but it seems his bridge has been burnt there too.
