Everton can ease transfer funds fear by allowing Abdoulaye Doucoure exit
Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas revealed on 21 December that Fulham are interested in making a January move for Everton maestro Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Doucoure has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park since Frank Lampard’s arrival and is arguably surplus to requirements at the club now.
Thomas confessed that Fulham were “interested” in making a reunion between Doucoure and his former manager Marco Silva at Craven Cottage.
“Exclusive: Fulham are interested in a January move for Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure,” revealed the Sky Sports journalist on Twitter.
Now, with the Blues seemingly in a sell-to-buy situation, allowing Doucoure to leave the club makes complete sense, especially with his contract nearing its end.
The Everton engine room is the least of the team’s problems right now and funds for a fearsome forward are desperately needed, this move can put the team one step closer to that.

Sell to buy.
Easing transfer fund fears has to be the biggest area of concern for the Blues right now and offloading talents like Doucoure is the start of doing this.
The wage bill seems to be getting cut down on a daily and this is likely because the team can’t afford to bring in new signings unless current unwanted players are ousted.
Soloman Rondon was cut off by the club in another bizarre bit of muddled business, these kinds of signings need to stop if the Blues are to progress.
It’s a shame to see a modern Premier League club operate with this kind of outdated philosophy but until there are changes at the top of the club, it will unfortunately continue.
Doucourse himself hasn’t played for Lampard since August, part of this is down to injuries but he wouldn’t be played ahead of Alex Iwobi or Amadou Onana at the moment either.
January will be an interesting month to be a Toffee and it should become a lot clearer what Everton can do in the market with a few players offloaded.
One thing is for sure, Lampard has a mammoth task on his hands, but the tearing down of dead weight within the squad should help the Englishman a lot in his transfer quest.
