Everton must make move for Australia World Cup hero Harry Souttar
Everton must bolster their defensive ranks by making a move for Australian World Cup hero Harry Souttar after the Daily Mail reported the Toffees have been interested in him.
Souttar was a colossus for the Socceroos at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and would provide first-team mainstays Conor Coady and James Tarkowski with some fierce competition.
Radio pundit Pat Nevin confessed that Souttar is a “one-man defence” and has got a magnet in his head, something Frank Lampard would love to have in his ranks.

“Radio pundit Pat Nevin summed up Souttar’s World Cup performances best: ‘You’ve got to absolutely love him. It seems he’s got a magnet in his head and been a one-man defence for Australia at times.’,” as quoted by the Daily Mail.
A one-man defence sounds like an enticing title to have and Souttar’s classy performances at the World Cup proved he’s capable of mixing it at a higher level than Championship side Stoke City.

Why not?
Nevin’s comments ring true about Souttar, he definitely has the kind of class and the physical qualities to thrive in the Premier League.
With Coady and Tarkowski not getting any younger and Yerry Mina’s future still unclear, why not bring in a new young and hungry defender into the fold at Goodison Park?
The 24-year-old is entering the peak years of his career and will definitely be looking for a big move soon, the Toffees should jump at this chance to sign the Australian.
In the long and harsh Premier League campaign, it’s unlikely Coady and Tarkowski will be able to play every game and bringing in some competition never hurts.
Michael Keane and Mason Holgate have proved not to be up to the standards either and replacing lacklustre talents like this with players like Souttar are what’s needed in the squad.
On top of this, Coady still hasn’t made Everton stay permanent, this would leave the door firmly open for a Souttar move in the summer.
