Everton loanee Dele Alli posts cryptic message to Instagram after being booed by Besiktas fans

Dele Alli’s Besiktas loan went from bad to worse on Wednesday after the Everton loanee was hooked off after just 29 minutes.

Alli started in Besiktas’ Turkish Cup match against Sanliurfa on Wednesday, but failed to reach the half-hour mark with Senol Gunes taking him off for Gedson Fernandes after his side fell 2-0 down.

Alli was booed by Besiktas fans while exiting the pitch [Daily Mail], and Gunes’ decision was quickly justified, with Besiktas coming back to win 4-2.

With criticism piling in on the 26-year-old, Alli took to Instagram and posted a cryptic message suggesting he’s not ready to give up on his football dream just yet.

“You saved my life. That’s why I will always love you,” posted Alli.

Alli’s downfall in the last two or three years has been remarkable and sad to watch. Once deemed the future of English football, rumours are now swirling suggesting he could retire early.

But thankfully his Instagram message suggests he’s ready to stick around and try to turn things around. As horrible as it was to watch Alli be booed by his own fans, he needs to turn that into fuel and motivation to improve.

He failed to find his feet at Everton and he’s struggling to settle in at Besiktas too. A little bit of luck and momentum is exactly what he needs to help him rediscover his form.

At 26 he still has plenty of time left to turn things around and save his career, but it all starts with hard work and determination. If his attitude and workrate is right then he’ll slowly but surely build up his form.

It’s hard to see a way back at Everton for Alli, but Frank Lampard is a huge admirer and will be desperate for Alli to turn things around.
